Domingo enciende la lámpara y se sienta. Bebe su café. Finalmente, tiene una idea.
Dominic turns on the lamp and sits down. He drinks his coffee. Finally, he has an idea.
Empieza a escribir en su portátil. Está escribiendo un guión para una película.
He starts typing on his laptop. He is writing a script for a film.
“Todo está en silencio”, escribe. “El guardia de seguridad está durmiendo. Las cartas secretas están sobre el escritorio. La espía se acerca. En silencio, ella —”
“Everything is silent,” he writes. “The security guard is sleeping. The secret letters are on the desk. The spy moves closer. Quietly, she —”
¡Pum! Domingo salta. El café se derrama sobre el portátil. El portátil deja de funcionar. La pantalla dice: “¡Error!”
Bang! Dominic jumps. The coffee spills on the laptop. The laptop stops working. The screen says: “Error!”
Hay luces verdes y amarillas fuera de la ventana. La gente aplaude. La vecina de Domingo está dando una fiesta. Ella es una famosa directora de cine. ¡Pum! Otro fuego artificial explota en el jardín de la directora.
There are green and yellow lights outside the window. People are clapping. Dominic’s neighbour is having a party. She is a famous film director. Bang! Another firework explodes in the director’s garden.
En la papelera, al lado del escritorio de Domingo, hay una carta. Dice: “Por favor, ven a mi fiesta. Estamos celebrando mi nueva película, ‘Lo Siento, Sr. Espía’. Tu guión también trata de un espía, ¿verdad? ¡Por favor, háblame de él!”
In the bin, beside Dominic’s desk, there is a letter. It says: “Please come to my party. We’re celebrating my new film, ‘Sorry, Mr Spy’. Your script is about a spy too, isn’t it? Please tell me about it!”
Domingo cierra las cortinas. Limpia el portátil. Lo apaga y luego lo enciende de nuevo. Funciona.
Dominic closes the curtains. He cleans the laptop. He turns it off, then he turns it on again. It’s working.
Empieza un nuevo guión.
He starts a new script.
“La directora de cine está dando una fiesta”, escribe. “Su nueva película, ‘La Disculpa’, es muy popular. En medio de la fiesta, llega su vecino.
“The film director is having a party,” he writes. “Her new film, ‘The Apology’, is very popular. In the middle of the party, her neighbour arrives.
“Está enfadado. ‘Tus películas son basura’, dice. ‘Populares, pero basura. Estoy escribiendo un guión brillante. ¡Pero no puedo terminarlo porque haces demasiado ruido!’
“He’s angry. ‘Your films are rubbish,’ he says. ‘Popular, but rubbish. I’m writing a script that is brilliant. But I can’t finish it, because you’re making so much noise!’
“Al día siguiente, la directora viene a disculparse. Quiere leer su guión. Pero él cierra la puerta. Finalmente, la directora de ‘La Disculpa’ lo siente. Fin.”
“The next day, the director comes to apologise. She wants to read his script. But he closes the door. Finally, the director of ‘The Apology’ feels sorry. The End.”
Domingo sonríe. Luego hace clic en Eliminar.
Dominic smiles. Then he clicks Delete.
Al día siguiente, alguien llama a la puerta de Domingo. Es la directora.
The next day, someone knocks on Dominic’s door. It’s the director.
“¡Tu nuevo guión es fantástico!” dice ella.
“Your new script is fantastic!” she says.
“¿Qué?”
“What?”
“¡La directora que lo siente! Me encanta.”
“The director who feels sorry! I love it.”
Domingo corre hacia su portátil. Su guión todavía está allí. El portátil está enviando el guión a todos sus contactos. La pantalla aún dice: “¡Error!”
Dominic runs to his laptop. His script is still there. The laptop is emailing the script to everyone in his contacts. The screen still says: “Error!”
“Pero yo —”
“But I —”
“¡Qué idea tan brillante, Domingo, hacer la película aquí, en mi jardín! Todos están listos – empezamos hoy. Lo sé, trabajamos demasiado – ¡pero también hacemos muchas fiestas! ¿Domingo? ¿Estás bien?”
“What a brilliant idea, Dominic, to make the film here, in my garden! Everyone’s ready – we’re starting today. I know, we work too hard – but we have a lot of parties too! Dominic? Are you alright?”
